The Redevelopment Board's August meeting covered three things worth tracking if you own property here or plan to buy long-term:

• Affordable housing overlay district – A proposal to allow more affordable housing in specific zones. Board members worry the town could face legal challenges if it targets specific sites instead of applying the rule townwide.
• Arlington Heights rezoning – A proposal to change zoning rules for the business corridor in the Heights.
• Vacant storefronts – The board is looking at ways to address empty storefronts along Arlington's commercial strips.

Any of these could reshape what gets built near Mass Ave or the Heights over the next few years — so if you're buying in those areas, don't assume today's zoning is locked in.

Separately, Town Day (the 49th one) happened on September 19: 200+ vendor booths, town-department info tables on housing and transportation, and fireworks at Spy Pond. It's a good seasonal marker as the fall market kicks off.
