What's Happening in Watertown

Google is moving into Arsenal on the Charles. Google signed a lease for 35,000 square feet at 200 Talcott Avenue — space that used to belong to Werewolf Therapeutics (now part of Ambros Therapeutics). The space will be a mix of office and lab space. This is a good sign for Watertown's commercial district, and it's part of a bigger trend of old lab space getting converted for other uses at Arsenal Yards.

Mt. Auburn Street construction is ongoing. The week of September 21–25, crews worked on sidewalks, curbs, and drainage between Templeton Parkway and Irma Avenue, plus more drainage work near East Bates Road. Expect single-lane traffic and parking restrictions (7 a.m.–5 p.m.) in that area into early fall. If you're showing or touring homes on Mt. Auburn Street, plan extra time for traffic and parking.

A longtime local business is closing. A Watertown burger-and-ice-cream shop that's been around for 22 years is shutting down. It's another sign of changing storefronts in town, even as new tenants like Google move in elsewhere.
